Oscar nominaties 2021 bekend

In 2021 worden voor de 93ste keer de Oscars uitgereikt. De actrice Priyanka Chopra maakte samen met haar man, de zanger Nick Jones, de genomineerden bekend. De bekendmaking van de winnaars vindt later dit jaar plaats. Op 25 april weten we welke films er met welke prijs vandoor zullen gaan. De film Mank heeft de meeste nominaties in de wacht weten te slepen. Deze film is voor maar liefst 10 Oscars genomineerd, waaronder die voor Beste Film. Ook Nomadland heeft veel nominaties in de wacht gesleept, deze film maakt maar liefst 7 keer kans op een Oscar.

De acteur Steven Yeun is genomineerd in de categorie Beste Acteur voor de film Minari. Hiermee is hij de eerste Aziatische-Amerikaanse acteur die genomineerd is voor deze prijs. Ook Viola Davis heeft geschiedenis geschreven. Ze is namelijk de eerste vrouw van kleur die twee keer genomineerd is voor de Oscar Beste Actrice.
