Elsie is a theoretical physicist, words I understand separately but not together. If you think having a PhD will guarantee you a lucrative career, allow this book to disabuse you of that notion — Elsie makes ends meet with non-sexual escorting, which bites her in the ass when her arch nemesis, who doesn’t know who she is, is the brother of a client. Jack, an experimental physicist (see first line), takes one look at Elsie and decides to spend the rest of his life needling her until she cries. This being an Ali Hazelwood book, Jack is twenty feet tall with shoulders the width of a medium-sized apartment complex while Elsie struggles with not lying constantly as an anxiety coping mechanism. The primary villains are a bullying mentor and a hedgehog. A wild Olive and Adam appear! Dysfunctional familial dynamics are abruptly fixed! The sex is better than usual! Elsie is een theoretisch natuurkundige, woorden begrijp ik afzonderlijk maar niet samen. Als je denkt dat een doctoraat je een lucratieve carrière garandeert, laat dit boek je dan uit de droom helpen — Elsie komt rond met niet-seksuele escorte, wat haar in de kont bijt wanneer haar aartsvijand, die niet weet wie zij is, de broer van een klant is. Jack, een experimenteel natuurkundige (zie eerste regel), werpt een blik op Elsie en besluit haar de rest van zijn leven te prikken totdat ze huilt.
