Dit zijn de Oscarnominaties voor 2022

Het is weer zover! De 94e editie van de jaarlijkse awarduitreiking staat voor de deur. Ondanks dat de ceremonie dit jaar niet zo lang op zich laat wachten als vorig jaar, toen het evenement uitgesteld werd naar april, moeten de genomineerden nog wel even geduld hebben. Op 27 maart 2022 wordt bekend wie er met een of meerdere felbegeerde beeldjes naar huis mag! Alle ogen zijn gericht op Netflix, die met het drama The Power of the Dog, van regisseur Jane Campion, maar liefst 12 Oscarnominaties te pakken heeft.

The Power of the Dog speelt zich begin twintigste eeuw af in Amerika en vertelt het verhaal over een dominante, maar charismatische rancher die de nieuwe vrouw van zijn broer en haar tienerzoon probeert te intimideren. Echter komen er hierdoor lang verborgen geheimen aan het licht. Naast The Power of the Dog wist ook Dune een goede indruk te maken, wat maar liefst tien nominaties oplevert. Ook the remake van West Side Story en het coming of age-drama Belfast wisten ieder zeven nominaties in hun zak te steken. De Deense animatiefilm Flee wist voor het eerst in de geschiedenis van de Oscars een nominatie te halen in drie aparte categorieën: beste animatie, beste documentaire én beste buitenlandse film.

De Nederlandse inzending voor beste buitenlandse film, Do Not Hesitate, viel in de voorrondes helaas al af.
